🏗️ Our Story

Data With Depth.

A technology-driven geotechnical engineering firm built on 24 years of hands-on project experience across Texas infrastructure.

Nick Dayal
PE, PMP, MBA · Managing Partner & Founder

Nick Dayal founded The Geotech Guys LLC in December 2021 and transitioned to full-time operations in August 2025. With 24 years of experience spanning geotechnical engineering, infrastructure program management, and applied AI development, Nick brings a rare combination of technical depth and technology leadership to every engagement.

Nick began his career as a software engineer in India before earning his MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. His engineering career spans Terracon, Gannett Fleming, HVJ Associates, HNTB, RailPros, and Atlas Technical Consultants — delivering geotechnical services on major Texas transportation infrastructure including TxDOT, NTTA, and municipal projects.

At TGG, the philosophy is clear: geotechnical engineering should be data-driven, technology-enhanced, and delivered with the clarity that clients, contractors, and designers need to make confident decisions.

Technology accelerates our work — it does not replace our judgment. Technical excellence and engineering due diligence are non-negotiable at TGG, on every project, regardless of how the work is produced.

Compares current milestone submittal against prior checkprint comments. Verifies resolution at any design progression — 30% vs 60%, 60% vs 90%, or any milestone pair.
Module 6 · Rolling Out
Traffic Sequencing Review
Reviews construction phasing, sequencing, and traffic control narratives against TMUTCD and TxDOT guidance. Flags phase-to-phase continuity gaps, unaddressed pedestrian and access conditions, and sequencing steps that conflict with the plan set. Review engine is built and validated; the user interface is rolling out.
Module 7
Site-Specific TCP Generation
Generates site-specific traffic control plans from a project location and a plain-language description of the work. GIS roadway data and imagery drive the cross-section; a deterministic engine places tapers, buffers, work space, and devices per MUTCD and TMUTCD. Output is a dimensioned, annotated PDF exhibit with device summary and cited notes — issued as a draft for review and seal by a licensed engineer.
Certification
TX-RAMP Level 2
Provisionally Certified by Texas DIR — May 4, 2026. Approved for use by Texas state agencies including TxDOT, NTTA, and regional mobility authorities.

💼 Careers

Work Where the Data Comes From

The Geotech Guys is a growing engineering firm with field operations across Texas and the South Central US. We are small enough that your work is visible and large enough that it matters.

Open Positions

Two roles open now. If nothing below fits but you think you belong here, send us your resume anyway.

01
Internship
Engineering Intern — Geotechnical
3-Month Term Richardson, TX Field, Lab & Inspection Now Hiring
A hands-on introduction to production geotechnical work across the full project cycle — subsurface investigation, laboratory testing, and construction-phase field observation. Assignments follow the active project load, so the mix varies week to week. This is a working internship, not a shadowing program.
What You’ll Do
Log soil samples by visual-manual procedure (ASTM D2488) and classify to USCS
Log rock core — recovery and RQD, lithology, weathering, hardness, and discontinuity descriptions
Observe drilling and sampling operations — SPT, Shelby tube, and rock coring
Assist in preparing boring logs from field data and driller records
Support laboratory testing — moisture content, Atterberg limits, sieve analysis, unconfined compressive strength, sample preparation
Assist with construction-phase observation and materials testing as assigned, which may include drilled pier and drilled shaft installation inspection — bearing surface, depth, cleanout, reinforcing, and concrete placement — under the supervision of a licensed engineer
Enter and QC field data; help build report figures, boring location plans, and profiles
Assist with utility locate requests and general project coordination
What We’re Looking For
Currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in Civil, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering
Soil mechanics, geotechnical, or engineering geology coursework completed — preferred, not required
Comfortable working outdoors in Texas heat and on active construction sites
Careful, legible, consistent documentation habits
Willing to move between office, laboratory, and active jobsites as project needs shift
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Apply for This Role
Send resume to careers@tggntx.com
02
Full-Time
OSP Field Technician
Full-Time Little Rock / Hot Springs, AR Field-Based Now Hiring
The OSP Field Technician performs field surveys and collects data supporting fiber optic and telecommunications projects. You will document existing aerial and underground utility conditions, validate routes, capture measurements, and make sure everything needed for accurate design and permitting comes back from the field the first time.
Key Responsibilities
Perform field walks documenting poles, underground paths, utilities, ROW boundaries, and site conditions
Capture required photos — pole tags, pole heights, cable labels, MPOE, handholes, anchors, clearances, obstructions
Measure spans, attachment heights, and mid-span clearances; record accurate GPS coordinates
Take detailed field notes per OSP Design Principles and maintain accurate route documentation
Convert field notes into Google Earth / KMZ format (preferred)
Identify constructability issues, easements, utility conflicts, and permitting requirements
Upload and manage field data in platforms such as Katapult Pro or IQGEO
Communicate field findings to Project Managers, engineering teams, and other stakeholders
Qualifications
Experience in OSP fielding, telecommunications construction, or utility surveying preferred
AT&T experience preferred — IFP, ASE, and GPON exposure a plus
Google Earth proficiency with ability to create or edit KMZ/KML files a plus
Understanding of FTTx and AT&T GPON design an advantage
Field surveying and measurement accuracy; photo documentation; map and GIS reading
Strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills
Knowledge of aerial and underground telecommunications infrastructure preferred
Able to work outdoors in varied weather and perform physically demanding field tasks
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Flexible for short business travel and occasional weekend work (rare)
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, and remain subject to both as a condition of continued employment
Apply for This Role
Send resume to careers@tggntx.com
Why TGG
Flexible Schedule
Field work does not fit a 9-to-5, and we do not pretend otherwise. We build schedules around the project and around you.
Room to Advance
A small firm growing fast means real responsibility early. Good work here gets noticed by the people who make decisions.
Modern Tooling
We build our own engineering software. You will work with better tools than the industry standard because we wrote them.
The Geotech Guys LLC is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
